I write because I want to, not because it's easy. Lord knows my meager English in school did not prepare me for a writing career. But, in the 8th grade, I had a substitute teacher for about a week who encouraged this backwards girl. It was so long ago I don't even remember her name now, however, the praise for a story I had written as homework resonates with me today. Even then I had strong dialogue.
I didn't start to write until much later when I took my dream and some long ago encouragement and completed my first novel. I have a few more manuscripts in the works now.
So, even if you're not a writer, who encouraged you to follow your dream?
